The difficult part of remaining anomymous is getting the medical provider to speak to you about the patient’s bills. Patient confidentiality would prevent the providers from providing information to you. Providing a bill amount or even admitting a patient is a patient would violate the patient’s right to confidentiality.

Therefore, without having a power of attorney or a written statement from the patient allowing the medical provider to speak to you about their bill, it would be very difficult to pay the bill without the patient knowing who is paying their bills.

I wish I could give you a better answer.
