The doctors office collected $380.00 from me for insoles that they said my insurance company would not pay. Then they filed the claim with my insurance company and they paid too. Now I’m having a hard time collecting my $380.00 from the doctor’s office. Do you have any suggestion on how I can collect my money from the doctors office?

Sue!!! It’s called double billing. It’s fraud and it’s illegal. Send a certified letter to the doctor’s office and tell them that they have double billed and that what they’ve done is considered insurance fraud. Tell them if they don’t issue a refund within 7 days then you are going report them to the insurance company and take them to small claims court. I bet you will have a refund within 7 days.
For future reference, never pay a medical bill if insurance payment is pending. If they pressure you, tell them to re-submit the claim. Continue to tell them to re-submit the claim until you get an EOB from your insurance company which explains your out of pocket cost. Once you have that then you know how much you have to pay. If they insist that you pay then tell them to put you on a payment plan of $25 per month. By law they have to comply to that request.
